Partial Care Program For Co-Occuring Mental Health & Methadone Clients
|
Oasis Clinical Services has designed a partial care program that is specifically tailored to meet the mental health needs of those individuals who currently receive extensive medication in addition to their methadone treatment.
Oasis Clinical Services has created a dynamic and multi-faceted partial care program that will provide concurrent treatment for individuals who receive methadone, and who also are in need of mental health and substance abuse treatment and counseling. Industry facts support our position that the majority of heroin abusers receive methadone treatment through some outpatient facility, but yet other professional services are not readily made available to them.
Our assessment of the Union and Essex County areas show us that most methadone clinics only provide an assembly line of methadone-related treatment. There is a significant void in any type of quality mental health and substance abuse treatment that is specifically tailored for those dually-diagnosed mental health individuals. Oasis Clinical Services wants to change that dynamic by offering those needed services.
Treatment of those individuals taking methadone and who suffer from either mental health disorders or co-occurring disorders continues to be a significant challenge for many area services providers. Oasis Clinical Services believes that multiple types of treatment must be provided concurrently and with better linkage of care between outpatient substance abuse treatment agencies and other service providers. In fact, mounting evidence supports the effectiveness of concurrent treatment, demonstrating that methadone users have less relapse to opiate use when they received additional and ancillary services particularly mental health care.
Methadone users are one of the hardest populations to deal with, and most drug free providers are not properly staffed to manage this group. Their clinics are usually over-populated, and therefore they cannot provide any individual treatment or specialized partial care services to those in need - other than methadone disbursement. We believe that our program can fill the current void in service, and help those persons taking methadone and who are in need of mental health treatment specifically those people located within Union and Essex counties.
Accepting as fact that most methadone users self medicate and abuse their medications especially Benzodiazepine we at Oasis project that the status quo (i.e. ineffective treatment options) will continue to be a matter of course unless the paradigm changes. The current process of limited mental health treatment options will only reinforce the continued and growing trend of abuse, recidivism and relapse within this core group.
Having the mental health and co-occurring individual receive their mental health services at Oasis simultaneously - and along with extensive medication monitoring and partial care educational programs should, we believe, go a long way in helping to mitigate and hopefully reduce the high levels of statistical abuse and recidivism currently found within this population.
