The patient will attend specific abuse-related group sessions, in addition to possible participation in family therapy, individual therapy, psychotherapy and specialty group sessions.
Therapy will focus on maladaptive behavioral patterns and will assist the patient to transition into and develop a healthy lifestyle. Primary focus and concentration will be placed on issues relating to the patient's major life areas. Other areas that are addressed and explored will help the patient learn how to accept and cope with the importance of a positive sense of well-being. The patient will develop his / her treatment plan to identify and gain insight into their pathology. A Co-Dependent group will take place weekly to educate the parents, spouse or significant other about the behavioral changes that the disease will inflict on its victims. The Co-Dependent will also be required to attend didactic sessions with his / her family. The 12-step program is introduced at this phase in addition to random urine screening and testing. The patient will become aware of emotional and personal responsibility, and each patient will be placed on a treatment contract or emotional / behavioral contract. Any patient that is diagnosed with chemical dependency will then be taught how to develop a sober lifestyle. The patient will learn about living a healthy decision-making life, as well as the development of the necessary social and coping skills needed in order to maintain sobriety. |
